Today Defkalion Green Technologies published 2 new important documents. The first is a full preliminary technical data sheet for it's Hyperion (Kw Series) products. The second was a press release mapping out their plans for the introduction of their Hyperion product.

Today, and through our company website, Praxen - Defkalion Green Technologies Global has disclosed its current work on Nickel and Hydrogen exothermic reaction using Chemically Assisted Low Energy Nuclear Reactions.

The provided Technical Specifications Sheet is a first preparation of our pre-industrial Hyperion product. This data has been tested with progress made towards the design of a final product ready for market entry in 2012.

"Defkalion's scientific R&D team have successfully managed to trigger and monitor Chemically Assisted Low Energy Nuclear Reactions caused by Nickel and Hydrogen nuclei. Q: How quickly can the system come up to power? Also, how fast can it be turned down to idle mode?

A: Please indicate an example of configuration (single or multi-reactor, kW and maximum allowed temperature). We will consult our R&D to check tables and we will provide you with a precise answer the soonest. In general, the mean time to put a Hyperion from 0 to 100% of its capacity is 6,5min.

Continuous Operation

Q: Could you clarify how long the Hyperion can produce excess heat continuously ? Thanks.

A: As you can see in specs, for at least 6 months non-stop (for any reason).

A: In a secondary circuit sending heat to an environment, any typical thermostat can adjust the energy demand to Hyperion. Hyperion PLCs are monitoring on line the Delta on calorimetry in the prime circuit, auto-adjusting the production (opening/closing the reactor(s) accordingly)

Self Sustain

A: Hyperion is a system, not just a bare reactor. And the system uses pumps and electronics that need electric power in normal operations. So, there is not really a sustain mode in such systems.

Price of Hyperions

Q: Can you give us an idea about hyperion's price list? (Products and annual services)

A: Indications on prices for the Greek market you can find in several publishes in Greek newspapers in Press Section of our site. In case you can not read Greek, this indication is 5.500euro per multi-reactor system (installed) and some hundreds of euros per year for recharge/support/service. Official price lists for local and international markets will be announced later.

Note: All multi-reactor systems will have the same selling price, regardless if they are of let us say 20 or 35 or 45 kW nominal power. In all cases, 9 reactors are in the kernel. Up to 4, 7 or 9 respectively in this examble, are allowed to operate concurrently by their setup. So the recharge period varies, as far as all 9 reactors may service the system following a balancing algorithm. So, recharging period is not always 6 months. It can be more as stated in specs.

Nickel Consumption

Q: This question, by a consumer point of view might probably be irrelevant since each six months (in single reactor units) the nickel charge and the hydrogen bottle get replaced completely, but I was wondering on a scientific point of view what is the consumption of Hydrogen and Nickel in grams for, let's say, a 10 kW unit continuously running at 100% power for six months? (or better and more generically, using a more proper unit of measure, in g/MWh) Could you also state how much Hydrogen and Nickel would such unit start up with?

Perhaps for Nickel a more correct word than consumption would be transmutation (assuming this is what happens in the reactor core, as with Rossi's). If you agree with this, could you tell how much of it, in the example above, gets transmuted after six months of use?

A: The most serious reason for a 6-12 months recharge of Hydrogen and Ni is not their consumption (or if you like the transmutation of Ni) but pure engineering reasons. Hyperions are quite new, so we will need to run diagnostics test for the kernel's peripherals in situ at least every six months in the first period, according to our present analysis of different components or subsystems and the service protocols. Later on, these protocols may change as we expect.

So, for your consumer point of view, we have to assure you that your Hyperion is properly monitored and cared, as we have to. For your scientific point of view of your questions, please note that less than 15gr of Ni are loaded in each reactors chamber during its production - Thank you

Exclusive Rights

It is interesting to note that references to Andrea Rossi's have been removed from their website with Defkalion now claiming full rights:

"Praxen Defkalion Green Technologies (Global) Ltd., is based in Cyprus. It owns full rights to its own technologies and will sell exclusive rights globally for the production of its proprietary products (Hyperion)."

Power

There appear to be two different kinds of prototype reactors being offered. A single reactor "kernel" of 5kW and a multi reactor kernel made from 9 reactors and capable of 10-45kW

When Two Tribes Go To War

In case you didn't know, World War 3 started this year.

Not China and America, but 2 much bigger foes who wouldn't last 2 seconds in a lift together without handbagging each other to death for simply exchanging glances. Yes, we are talking about the "special" relationship between New Energy Times's Steven B Krivit and Italian Cold Fusion supremo, Andrea Rossi.

Last week in the third episode of Shock and Awe, Krivit fired his latest salvo of tactical nukes at a defiant Rossi.  With all the anticipation of waiting for Duke Nukem Forever (It'll be ready when it's ready) I waited to see what delights it would contain.

When Krivit's imaginatively titled Report No.3 was released, the laser guided information bomb the size of War and Peace with a total of 37 (yes, thirty-seven) appendices strapped to it (I'm still only on number 8) made it's way to Rossi's Florida home where I'm told a mushroom cloud could still be seen days later.

But in the end, did Krivit deliver an ICBM that Rummy would be proud of, or was it just a damp firework stuck fizzing in the ground at the local park? To be honest, I got bored by page 3 of appendix 1.  Had I not been researching it in order to write about it, I would have maybe printed it off and simply used it to jam under shortest leg of my Chinese made (authentic mahogany) coffee table.

Looking at the report, all the same vaguely scientific arguments are in there from episode 2.  There are also a total of 11 separate reports on "steam analysis" by experts in the field of youtuberoscopy. To top it all off there is another stomach churning regurgitation of Rossi's less than saint like past which (not for the first time) looks like a cheap shot and nothing more. (Need we talk about the Pope's chequered past again?) Ed.

I wondered what the great unwashed had thought of Krivit's blockbuster sized epic, so I took a glance at the comments section underneath hoping to find the answer. It was just as I had feared, a cacophany of sycophantic praise from the Krivit choirboys liberally sprinked with some Rossi bashing and finished off with a caremelised jous of token pro Rossi crapola to make it "fair and balanced".

With all the charm and neocon grace of Bill O'Reilly there seemed to be no end to the Rossi condemnation and "scammer" talk, which in the end prompted me to write my OWN comment and perhaps introduce some other alternative theories that were simply not being discussed (even as a possibility).

Anywho - here's my comment and subsequent response I recieved.

I don’t believe the “scam” hypothesis one tiny bit and I’ll explain why.

If he’s out to scam someone, then it’s not clear how this would be played out. You said yourself that no-one has seen “verifiable evidence of this “couple of hundred million Euros of investment?”.

Scammers will let the scenario play out for as long as possible, creaming as much money as they can from gullible people and this does NOT sit comfortably with the fact that Rossi has given HIMSELF a self-imposed deadline of end of October. There are a lot of high profile people who were at the Defkalion presentation and I don’t think they would take kindly to being scammed. And if Rossi is a scammer, then he should be getting an Oscar for his performance, as he has maintained a perfect performance which would be nothing short of miraculous.

Assuming for a minute that it is a “scam” leaves us with further problems where the logic does not fit the hypothesis. Prof Giuseppe Levi would have to be “in on it”, and as a respected phycisist at a very prestigious university with EVERYTHING to lose, it’s highly unlikely.

A scammer would certainly not agree to let ANYONE test ANY aspect of their device, let alone allowing one go to University of Upssala and Bologna and then PAYING THEM 500,000 Euros out of his own pocket for the privilege.

Rossi is not exactly hard-up for cash since he owns a few companies. He’s spent an awful lot of his OWN money, so money as a motivation seems absurd.

I think at worst, the eCat doesn’t produce as much power as is being touted. I think it’s easily possible that the eCat was not operating at “full steam” (if you pardon the pun) when you observed it, or that Rossi misconfigured it on the day, or that he was nervous of showing much for patent reasons, or any number of other technical issues that he’d rather not admit to.

Rossi may not have wanted to portray the eCat as unreliable and so the simple answer may be that he was simply embarrassed. Have you considered those possibilities instead of complex and highly unbelievable conspiracy scenarios?

I certainly don’t want to perpetuate any myths and I’m sure you don’t either.

Before I publish your post, I want to invite you support the following statements you made with your best factual evidence:

1. One of Rossi’s devices has gone to the University of Uppsala for testing.
2. One of Rossi’s devices has gone to the University of Bologna for testing.
3. Rossi has paid either of those institutions a single Euro.
4. Rossi is not hard-up for cash.

5. Rossi spent an awful lot of his OWN money.

All the Rossi bashing posts and congratulatory back patting on a"job well done" seemed to make their way past the censors with unbridled ease. However, my own post was stopped at the border and asked to explain itself.

Now I don't pretend to know exactly what the heck is going on with this whole eCat thing.  It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma and dropped into a deep well full of confusion, but I DO know that the discussion needs to move beyond the confines of world championship steam debating and the Petroldragon saga.

And since I'm down under, my responses to comments and emails have their own unique form of jet-lag which results from the fact that I'm usually sleeping when the rest of the world is up and about.  Anyone who knows me will tell you that I reply to emails the way a sloth does the 100 metres.  And besides - last night was the third last night of MasterChef; Smoke bellowing down the hallway and the fire alarm shrieking itself to death would not have shifted my arse from the couch.

And what was my pennance for not being glued to the Rossi debate 24/7 ? See below.

Yes, I would have replied, but was not given much time to do so. Apart from sleeping while most bloggers are active and taking my coffee table back to the shop because one of the authentic mahogany plastic legs fell off,  I have a life outside engaging in late-night discussions about steam. I can think of 437 better things I could be doing.

Now the questions I've been asked are lawyer's questions.  Krivit knows fine well I cannot prove any of these things about Rossi (yet), but to be honest people, it's only a comment on a blog, it's only a comment. No one's life depends on it. Do all comments on blogs now need to have accompanying documentation?

I can't prove that any eCats have been sent to any University yet, but what DOES exist is a written agreement on the University of Bologna's website (so are we to assume that the University of Bologna is in on the conspiracy)?  I think not.

I'm not Rossi's accountant so I couldn't tell you if he's paid the University of Bologna yet, or even if he's paid his subscription to Cold Fusion Weekly, but publicly he has comitted himself to these things - and why would you do that if you really don't need to? 

As for being cashed up, I'm sure the fact that he owns several companies must mean that he's not exactly down the dole office every week with the arse hanging out of his trousers. Do I need proof for that too?

And a blind, deaf and dumb dung beetle can see that Rossi has spent an incredible amount of his own time and money over the years on getting this to a commercial stage - this is supported by countless others testimony and documentation. 

But what really takes the biscuit is that my comment has to jump through more hoops than a nervous springel spaniel at Crufts while the the Krivit choirboys can make speculative and wild accusations WITHOUT backing up THEIR own comments.

 

The people shouting "scam" seem to have forgotten that Rossi did not instigate the public demonstration and attention.  That particular request came from Prof Sergio Focardi who urged Rossi to do so. If Rossi wanted to pull a scam and disappear with money, then it seems a crazy thing to start attracting attention to himself when he was ALREADY in talks with Ampenergo and Defkalion.

 

When people accuse Rossi of scam they don't realise that to do so also implicates Prof Giuseppe Levi, Prof Sergio Focardi, and Prof Christos Stremmenos and involves the duping of NASA, the Greek Deputy Minister for Industry & Energy, Defkalion, Ampenergo and the fooling of 2 world-class scientists, one of which decides Nobel Physics prizes. Not to mention another dozen or so dignitaries who attended the Defkalion announcement. I simply don't believe that this is a logical hypothesis and that not one, but THREE well respected scientists are part of a conspiracy to scam.

 

I'd sooner believe my Chinese slave goods table was made of mahogany.

Defkalion Green Technologies s.a. was established for the purpose to manufacture and release to the market products based on the Andrea Rossi E-Cat invention; essentially undertaking the path from invention to industrialization on a global scale. There is no government financing involved.

Science And Technology

Andrea Rossi and Sergio Foccardi have unquestionably succeeded with their invention (Hydrogen and Nickel exothermic reaction, calling it the Energy Catalyzer; commonly referred to as the E-Cat) to create and safely reproduce cheap and clean heat at room temperature conditions and with stable results. This process will create a new global energy era with profound and unequivocally positive social, economic and environmental implications.

Many have labeled Cold Fusion with positive and negative connotations. It has also been referred to as LENR and CANR. Most of these terms hold behind them thousands of hours of research work, all hoping to achieve the ultimate energy dream: limitless energy. However, overall, a stigma has created ambiguous feelings of aiming to reach the end of the rainbow. The science behind the products of Defkalion is none of the above, even though it is identified as such in current media coverage.

It is not the Holy Grail; simply put, it is an exothermic reaction between Nickel and Hydrogen that gives off heat; cheap, clean and green heat. This is a completely new field of science, one that is full of opportunities and challenges. It is a totally new emerging industry; one that will eventually revolutionize the energy sector.

Product Status

The technology is currently in its final stages of becoming an industrialized and commercially viable prototype. This forms the basis for a broad range of products under the commercial name Hyperion. The current range of products produces surplus energy from 6 to 30 times more heat than energy consumed during its operation. Licensing of all Hyperion products is in progress. A fully functioning 1MW heat producing reactor will be inaugurated in Q4 of 2011.

Patents And Licensing

A national patent has been issued for Italy; the EU patent is on its final stage, while the global patent is pending. Hyperion patents are pending. EU safety certificates are in the process of issuance by the relevant authorities. Product tests will be similar to typical commercially available products with standardized procedures according to Performance; Stability; Functionality; and Safety.

Manufacturing And Factories

Our first factory is already in preparation phase, located in Xanthi, Northern Greece. It
has the following characteristics:

• 6,000m2 space
• Maximum production capacity of 300,000 units annually (kW and MW products)
• IT for monitoring the production line and product support
• Technical support to distribution channels
The assembly of products will include the following activities:
• Assembly of reactors (purchased from Defkalion)
• Build-up of final product (electronics, heat management, etc)
• Quality Control and Total Quality Management and Environmental Control
• Stress Tests and Functional Tests of end products
• Recharging of units
• Recycling procedures

The second factory is scheduled to be built in Xanthi within 2012, comprising of 12,000m2 for a larger assembly line. A third factory, belonging to Praxen Defkalion Green Technologies (Global) Ltd., shall operate as the producer of the industrial secret as the products’ kernel.

Total staff requirements for both factories will be around 380, and include technical expertise in the fields of: mechanical engineering, engineering, electronics, plumbing, data management, and auxiliary.

The 1MW Hyperion will be inaugurated in Q4 of 2011 with its production phase to commence in Q1 of 2012. This first 1MW reactor will be the first large scale unit based on multiples of the smaller Hyperion models in array. It will be used to partially cover the energy needs of the factory. It shall also be used as a show case unit.

With three factories located in Xanthi, the region shall gain in employment but also become an international hub where global investors and partners will visit the factory for business and product viewings.

Product Range

Although Hyperion models produce only heat energy, electricity can be generated with the application of existing third party technology. With regards to electricity generation, consumers will be able to receive a total solution based on mutually confirmed interoperability with third party technologies such as steam turbines and micro-steam turbines, Rankin new generation CHP, as well as intelligent heat management systems.

Hyperion products have different configurations, most notably:

• Series A: Single tube single module CHP: By this configuration, 5-10Kw heat power will be released to operate micro-CHP/micro turbine configurations

• Series B: Multi tube single module CHP: By this configuration, multiples of 5 or 10Kw heat power (max 30kW) can be integrated in the same box , when product has to operate (heat) bigger CHP/micro-CHP or steam turbine configurations

• Series C: Single tube single module heat only: By this configuration, 5-10Kw heat power will be released to operate small steam or hot water demands such as agricultural applications (green houses)

• Series D: Multi tube single module heat only: By this configuration, multiples of 5Kw heat power can be integrated in the same box , when product has to produce substantial amounts of heat for energy demanding applications

• Series E: Single or multi tube modules in parallel: To face the energy demands of big industrial installations at the range of MWs. Such products consists of arrays of A, B, or D series rack-mounted

• Series F: Single or multi tube modules in series: To accelerate power in different configurations

All kW range products have the following dimensions: 55x45x35cm
All MW range products are built within a 20” sized container
All products are connected to Defkalion main computers through on-line GSM for monitoring.

Hyperion advantages:

• Cheap: Hyperion can reduce the price of electricity by 90%

• Abundant: A typical Series C Hyperion 20kW product can generate up to 157 Mw in one year of operation. Regarding raw materials, Greece possesses 83% of Europe’s Nickel deposits. With its own usage, the price of creating Hydrogen will also become economically viable for its abundant use.

• Clean: The use of Hydrogen and Nickel produces Copper. There are no harmful to the environment substances during its production, use and afterlife.

• Green: no hazardous or toxic chemicals are required either in its production or in its consumption, unlike standard fossil fuel residuals.

• Safe: Analyses and tests for Performance, Stability, Functionality, and Safety will all be warranted from international accepted bodies to allay the fears of all potential nay-sayers that it is totally safe with zero radioactive emissions and zero harmful environmental emissions.

Defkalion Green Technologies Have Announced A Product Line In Rossi Energy Catalyzers Called "HYPERION". Catalyzer Modules Will Be Available From 5 - 30Kw Power Output.

Description

The line of products to be produced by Defkalion Green Techologies S.A. will carry the name Hyperion. Individual units producing heat ranging from 5 up to 30KWh/h will have the following dimensions: L55xW48xH35cm. Larger units producing 1MW heat will be sized to fit inside a container sized 20 and 40 feet. All products are plug-and-pay.

Science

The science behind the E-Cat increases the probability of particles overcoming the electrostatic potential Coulomb barriers in order to penetrate the nucleus by the quantum mechanical tunneling effect, yielding in an exothermic reaction between Hydrogen and Nickel. By decreasing the surface upon which a given amount of pressure is exerted, the odds for the tunneling effect to occur are increased, allowing for higher penetrability of the Coulomb barrier.

Defkalion Press Conference Today June 23rd 14:30

Defkalion Green Technologies (Energy Catalyzer Licencees) will hold a press conference today in Athens, Greece. Defkalion have the exclusive rights to sell, license and distribute the Energy Catalyzer technology for Europe. Ampenergo have the rights for the Americas.

"The press conference will comprise of undisclosed up-to-date information related to the technology's commercial and industrial applications, the company's strategic placements, as well as commercial issues that are of interest not only to Defkalion's future customers, but also to the political society of our country. It is anticipated that the company may among other things announce a particular product range / model of e-cat boiler/s to provide home and commercial heating.  There are a wide range of particular applications to which this technology is suited and Defkalion may provide more information on what their target market is.

There are no indications at this point that ANY significant mainstream media reporting will be present which is in line with the current, seemingly coordinated policy of denial, now in it's FIFTH month.

eCatalyzer: All 330 Modules Completed For First Fusion Plant

Rossi: "We have completed all the 330 modules of the 1 MW plant. Now goes on the testing of each of them and the construction of the container."

Here is a quick summary of the latest information and some questions and answers from Rossi's online journal.

• Each E-Cat in the 1MW plant can be remotely powered on and off.

Question - "What will be the maximum presure and temperature of the output steam?" 

Rossi - "550 °C, 50 bars".

Question - "Does the reaction stop if temperature rises to Ni melting temp? This is rather important safety point, ie. is china syndrome possible?"

Rossi - "If Ni melts the E-Cat stops. It works only with powders. This makes it intrinsecally (sic) safe. And do not forget that we do not leave radioactive material, we do not use radioactive material ."

Now THREE E-Catalyzer Factories To Manufacture Cold Fusion Modules

RAI TV News (an Italian TV station) recently featured a lengthy news item on Andrea Rossi and his energy catalyzer invention.  Among those interviwed were Swedish scientists Sven Kullander of Upsalla University who is also chairman of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Energy Committee and Hanno Essen (Associate professor of theoretical physics at the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology and chairman of the Swedish Skeptics Society). They recently said of the energy catalyzer:

“Any chemical process should be ruled out for producing 25 kWh from whatever is in a 50 cubic centimeter container. The only alternative explanation is that there is some kind of a nuclear process that gives rise to the measured energy production.”

The news item also featured a fascinating question and answer session with executives Alexandros Xanthoulis and David C. Aurel from Defkalion Green Technologies interviewed by Angelo Saso from RAI TV. The Defkalion factory will be the site of the inaugural October 1MW Energy Catalyzer Plant. The plant to be built in Xanthi, Greece, will be the first ever cold fusion power facility in history to be developed. Defkalion will also have exclusive license to manufacture and sell the energy catalyzer modules.

Here, Defkalion executive Alexandros Xanthoulis indicates that the first plant in Xanthi, Greece will be used as a reference site for other businesses interested in pursuing the ecatalyzer for their energy generation needs.

Alexandros Xanthoulis: "The 1MW facility in Xanthi will however we will also use it as a presentation or showcase for future potential interested parties."

Angelo Saso "Is the Energy Catalyzer ready for the market?"

Alexandros Xanthoulis: "We have the final product in our hands, not the experimental one, exactly the one that we are going to produce. It works excellent."

David C. Aurel: "Actually the device what we are going to sell  (or let's say provide) is going to be a 10kW device producing solely heat.

Angelo Saso: "How much will it consume in terms of fuel and money?"

David C. Aurel: "Again speaking about households will have no other charges or costs except for the leasing fee because we will provide all the ingredients for the device."

Angelo Saso: How many devices will you run out?

David C. Aurel: "As many as we can produce. As a rule of thumb we can assume a final full capacity of 300,000 units per year."

The narrator Angelo Sasso then goes on to say that "A factory to commence production and a further 2 on paper." So it would seem that the plant in Greece is just the first of at least THREE energy catalyzer facilities.

The question of who is behind this company comes up and is answered by David C Aurel - "Defkalion is funded by a group of non-governmental entities. It's not just private investors but they are entities also in industry and international. They come from different parts of the world."

Angelo Saso: How much money will be invested in the project?

"Well to cover Greece and Balkans we estimate about 200 million.. I believe it 100%, our investors believe it 100%. and if you see the messages we are getting from all over the world, they believe it 100%. There are several countries (important countries) who are already requesting to buy the product from us.
